Recycled crushed concrete

With use, Crushed Concrete can settle into a firm base rather than staying loose under traffic. Angular recycled concrete pieces interlock, while the fines work into the spaces between them during compaction. The result is suited to driveway work, parking areas, access routes, and crawlspace pads where the material will sit beneath the finished surface.

Piedmont red clay can hold water and become greasy under load, while coastal sand benefits from a material with fines that helps bind the base together. Place Crushed Concrete in lifts, lightly moisten it, and compact as the work progresses so the particles seat tightly. It is a base material, not a clean drainage aggregate. For French drains or pipe bedding, use washed, open-graded stone that leaves room for water to move through.

Common Uses

Driveway & Parking Pad Base

For new or rebuilt driveways and parking pads, crushed concrete provides a supporting layer beneath traffic. Place and compact it in lifts to create a stable foundation that helps prevent ruts and potholes. It can remain exposed as the travel surface or receive a layer of driveway gravel for a more finished appearance.

Road Base & Access Roads

Private roads, farm lanes, equipment areas and construction entrances can use crushed concrete as a base course. It supports heavy trucks and machinery while creating a travel surface that remains usable after rain.

Sub-Base for Patios, Walkways & Pads

A compacted crushed-concrete layer beneath pavers, walkways, sheds and hot tub pads helps distribute weight and maintain a level surface. Because its coarse material passes water more readily than Piedmont clay, less moisture can remain below the finished area. Before pavers go down, add a bedding layer of sand or screenings.

Fill & Backfill

For low areas, grade buildup, retaining-wall backfill and footing backfill, crushed concrete can serve as structural fill. Its angular particles compact into a stable layer that resists erosion and avoids the muddy conditions common with soil fill.

Why Choose Crushed Concrete

Lower Cost Than Quarried Base

Crushed concrete is generally less expensive per ton than crushed stone base because it is recycled material. At every order size, our price is below our driveway gravel price, which can reduce material costs for long driveways and access roads.

Compacts Hard and Stays Put

Under a plate compactor or roller, the angular pieces and fines interlock. As the material settles, old cement paste can help it bind, creating a tightly packed base that limits movement, ruts and erosion.

Reused Concrete

This material gives demolished concrete another use rather than sending it to a landfill, while reducing the demand for newly quarried stone. It provides a firm layer below a driveway or road.

Base and Fill Uses

For driveways, parking pads, access roads, patio and shed sub-bases, or general fill, this material can cover the needed groundwork. A single delivery can serve several of those uses on one project.
